Also known as a hudhud (that’s its Arabic name) this majestic bird with a feather crown is celebrated every time it makes an appearance. It symbolizes kinship, wisdom and loyalty.
Witnessing this bird in person last summer was the highlight of my trip to Cairo. I knew then that I had to capture it in glass and metal. It feels right at home on this luscious green copper backdrop. That’s where I found my hoopoe bird. In a grassy field by the Mediterranean Sea!
I paired him with more green! The most incredible peridot I’ve seen in a while, that was acquired specifically for this piece.
