Nocturnal Wallpaper Sky
Thought I would end this year with another variation of my Cloud Series. The night sky was created with copper that was textured, then brushed with black underglaze. And then encapsulated with clear flux and fired at a high temperature. I love how the copper glows beneath the black underglaze!
The pattern on the copper is a William Morris design that dates back to the 1800’s. The Huntington Library in Pasadena has an extensive database of his work.
I paired the enamel with a hand sculpted and carved barn owl with cast organic elements.
