Strawberry Dream II
This pendant took three weeks in the making! It all started with luscious seed studded cloisonné strawberries. And somewhere along the way a serendipitous encounter with a a pair of house finches gave rise to a bird portrait. Once that was complete I knew I had to pair them together! So in love with how this strawberry dream turned out!
Fun fact: House finches are known to feast on strawberries if they live anywhere near a berry field!
A little bit about the painting. Mason stains (pigments) were meticulously applied in thin layers to an enamel canvas and fired multiple times. Each layer of color is encapsulated in clear enamel. The twinkling bird eye is comprised of fine silver foil and built up transparent enamel to create dimension.
The painting is set in a sterling silver frame and prong setting adorned with a sweet deep red garnet! The strawberry leaves are hand sculpted and carved out of sterling silver metal clay. A juicy fine silver cloisonné strawberry studded with gold foil seeds completes this statement pendant.
